How to Install a PCMCIA Card on a Dell Laptop
PCMCIA cards provide laptop owners with a fast and easy way to install a range of hardware, including wireless modems, cellular cards and network adapters. These cards are designed to be modular, and it is important for laptop owners to know how to insert and remove these cards properly.

Check your Dell laptop to make sure it has at least one PCMCIA card slot. On many Dell laptops this card slot will be on the left hand side of the laptop, near the back of the unit. Keep in mind that the card slot could be located elsewhere, so be sure to check the sides, front and back of your laptop.

Press the release button next to the PCMCIA slot to remove any device that is already in the slot. Put that device aside or place it in your laptop carrying case.

Remove your PCMICIA device from its packaging and slide it into the PC card slot. These cards are designed to fit into the laptop only one way, so if the card will not go into the slot turn it around and try it the other way.

Insert the installation CD that came with your PCMCIA device and run the setup program to install the software.
