How to Connect My Rock Band Guitar to My Wii to Play Guitar Hero

There are several different music games you can play on the Wii gaming system. They include "Rock Band," "Rock Band 2," "Guitar Hero," "Guitar Hero World Tour" and "Guitar Hero III." These games let you play songs from groups like Aerosmith, Smashing Pumpkins and Beastie Boys to name a few. You can play as either the lead guitarist or bassist in a group or as part of a band that includes a drummer, singer, bassist and guitarist. To play the different games, you will need a Wii guitar. You can save money by only having to buy the game instead of the game and instrument bundle.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the Les Paul guitar over and remove the backing that holds the Wii controller in place. There are two prongs holding the backing in place. Gently pull the prongs towards the base of the guitar to remove the backing.

    • 2

Insert the white plug from the Les Paul guitar into the bottom of the Wii controller. This is the same spot where you would plug a Wii Nunchuk into. When you connect the guitar and the controller, the two communicate during game play wirelessly with the gaming console.

    • 3

Place Wii controller inside the back of Les Paul guitar. There is enough space to hold the Wii controller in the Les Paul guitar.

    • 4

Replace the backing of Les Paul guitar. Make sure the prongs snap back into place. When you hear a snapping noise, this will indicate the backing is in place and secure.

Tips & Warnings

  • The Les Paul guitar is sold separately at electronic stores that sell Wii games and accessories.

  • The Les Paul guitar is not compatible with the original "Rock Band" game. If you have a Les Paul guitar, you can use it to play "Guitar Hero," "Guitar Hero World Tour," "Guitar Hero III" and "Rock Band 2."
