How to Wear a Chin Strap on a Trooper Hat
Trooper hats, also known as trapper hats, graced the screen in the 1965 Russian romance Dr. Zhivago. In recent years, the furry, tall hats have gained more popularity. The hats often are extremely warm because they are lined and covered with fur. Trooper hats have chin straps that aid in keeping the hat secure on one's head. Turn the trooper hat upside down in front of you. The back of the hat and the hat opening should be facing you. Your hands should grip the left and right ear flaps just above the chin straps. Flip the hat on top of your head and edge it down so that it fits your head securely.

Tug on the chin straps, located on the left and right ear flaps. Chin straps sometimes have snaps and buttons. Others simply tie beneath the chin. Identify which method your trooper hat uses.

Secure the chin straps beneath your chin according to the closures on your trooper hat. Tie the strings below your chin, pull one strap under your chin and snap it to the opposite ear flap, or button a single strap by pulling it under your chin and slipping it through a button hole on the opposite ear flap.
