Instructions

    • 1

Remove the toilet by turning off and detaching the water supply, emptying the bowl and unscrewing the flange bolt on each side at the floor. Lift the toilet straight up and place it outside or in another room where leakage will not damage the area. Place a rag in the sewer hole to block escaping gases.

    • 2

Install the Pergo flooring up to the toilet area as per normal installation instructions. End the installation before the indentation on the floor where the toilet was located.

    • 3

Draw the location of the flange bolts and the sewer hole onto the next planks to be installed; add one half inch around each tracing to allow for expansion of the Pergo flooring after installation.

    • 4

Cut the transferred markings from the planks of Pergo, using a jigsaw and taking care to use eye and hand protection while cutting.

    • 5

Lay the underlayment onto the toilet area, cut to expose the sewer hole and flange bolts.

    • 6

Install the planks with the flange and sewer cutouts, checking to be sure there is 1/2-inch clearance around the bolts and hole. Remove any excess underlayment that is visible around the cutout areas.

    • 7

Run a bead of mildew-resistant, 100 percent silicone between the sub-floor and the laminate around each of the flange bolt and sewer hole cutouts, taking care to seal the openings completely. This is key to maintaining the installation requirements of your Pergo warranty.

    • 8

Replace the toilet by reversing the steps taken to remove it, taking care to install a new wax seal in the sewer opening. The flange bolts should be tightened snugly so there is no shifting or rocking of the toilet, but not over-tightened as this can cause restriction of the Pergo expansion or possibly crack the porcelain of the toilet itself.

    • 9

Turn on the water supply to the toilet and check for leaks, tightening the line slightly if a drip is found.
