Visitors to your virtual zoo in Zoo Tycoon can increase their enjoyment of your facility while spending more money if you include aquatic exhibits. With the addition of the “Marine Mania” expansion pack, you can build tanks and add new animals such as dolphins and whales to your zoo. Like their above water counterparts, these animals require a habitat to be built, and your first step in creating this habitat is to build a tank.

Choose the area where you wish to build the tank. You will need an open space close to a path. Any foliage or existing buildings should be cleared with the bulldozer tool.

Click on “Construction” from the menu on the left of the screen. Select “Tank Building” from the options listed. Click the icon that resembles the walls of a tank.

Click and hold your left mouse button on the corner of where you wish to place the tank. Drag the mouse to the opposite corner to increase the size to fit the area. Release the mouse button to place the tank.

Place your cursor over the entrance to the tank. Click your mouse to add the entrance. Always place an entrance near a path or your visitors will not have access to the new exhibit.

Return to the “Construction” tab and select “Exhibit Rocks.” Choose rocks to place in your tank to allow animals such as seals a place to rest outside of water. Click the rock and then click in the tank to place your item.

Select the “Adopt Animals” item from the left of the screen. Choose a marine animal and click the picture. Return to the tank and click anywhere to place the animal.

Tips

Keep your tanks clean by hiring enough zoo staff to maintain every exhibit.

Check the animal information in the “Adopt Animals” tab to see what other items marine animals wish to have in their tanks.
