How to Replace Cabinet Pulls

Replace cabinet pulls to give your cabinets an inexpensive face-lift.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Remove old door pulls.

  2. Step 2

    Clean under old pulls.

  3. Step 3

    Patch holes if your new pulls have different hole alignments.

  4. Step 4

    Mark holes for new pulls - make sure pulls are centered.

  5. Step 5

    Drill new holes from the front of the doors.

  6. Step 6

    Hold pulls in place while you drill new screws into place.

Tips & Warnings
  • Painted cabinets can be patched with paint; wood cabinets can be patched with wood filler that matches the door and coloring.

on 11/22/2005 You can get something called a backplate which is an long oval strip of metal that goes between your handle and the cabinet. Its a nice way of hiding the old holes and any imperfections in the wood.
