Instructions

Select a DVD movie editing program such as Nero for PC or DVD Creator for Mac. PC users can also use Windows Media Player and Mac users can use Burn OS X. The latter two programs offer less flexibility, but they are free and easy, allowing users to quickly create a DVD with pictures and music.

Open your DVD authoring software and choose "New Project" from the file menu. The project will open two timelines, one for audio and the other for pictures or video. Go to the "Add" menu and browse to the location where the pictures are that you want to add to your DVD. Click to open them in your work space. Add several pictures you want to work with before you begin editing, then repeat the process for your music files.

Click on each picture you want to add to your DVD and drag it to the timeline. Position the picture at the location where you want it to appear in your DVD. Place your cursor in front of the file you just added and go to the "Transitions" menu to add a transition effect after the first photo that will lead you to the next photo you add. Continue to add your photographs this way, placing a transition between each.

Drag your music files to the timeline one at a time, placing them where you want the music to play in relation to the pictures you've already added. This will create a soundtrack for your pictures. You can use WAV, MP3 or MP4 sound files for your DVD soundtrack.

Click the "Burn" function to turn your compiled pictures and music files into a single DVD file. Before you complete the final DVD authoring process, be sure you have placed all the transitions the way you want them and that your audio and visual tracks are lined up correctly.
