How to Get Rid of the Malware Removal Bot Program

Malware Removal Bot is a fake software program that appears to be a normal antivirus tool. The program pretends to scan your system for nonexistent virus threats and then prompts you to pay additional money to remove them. Malware Removal Bot creates a series of changes to your operating system that make it difficult to delete by using the standard "remove program" feature. To get rid of the Malware Removal Bot program, you must manually delete all of its various files and registry values.

Instructions

      Open the computer's Task Manager by pressing the "Ctrl," "Alt," and "Delete" keys. Click "Open Task Manager." Access the "Processes" tab.

      Click the "MalwareRemovalBot.exe" process and then select "End Process." Click "setup.exe" and then select "End Process."

      Access the "Start" menu and click "Run." Type "CMD" and press "Enter" to open the command prompt. If your computer is running Windows Vista you can locate the command prompt by clicking "All Programs," "Accessories" and then "Command Prompt."

      Type "regsvr32 /u TCL.dll" and press "Enter." Type "regsvr32 /u SpyCleaner.dll" and press "Enter." Close the command prompt. Return to the "Start" menu and click the "Search" button.

      Search for and delete the following files:

      TCL.dll
      SpyCleaner.dll
      MalwareRemovalBot.exe
      SpyCleaner.dllrs.dat
      MalwareRemovalBot.lnk
      SpyCleaner.dll

      Search for "regedit" and click the "Registry Editor" icon if you are using Windows Vista. Open the "Run" command in the Start menu type and "Regedit" if you are using Windows XP.

      Tap the "Ctrl" and "F" keys to open the Registry Editor's search box. Type "A58B540E-5D02-4505-9118-3969ED30AB43" into the search box. Right-click and delete all of the registry values that pop up in the search results field.

      Repeat the process with the following registry values:

      Return to your web browser. Click "Tools" and then "Options." Navigate to the "Security" tab and click "Exceptions."

      Enter "http://www.malwareremovalbot.com" and "http://malware.bytescan.org" into the block websites list. Click "Apply." Close the browser and restart your computer.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your computer was infected with the Malware Removal Bot program and you didn't manually download it yourself, your computer is probably infected with other virus or spyware programs. After getting rid of Malware Removal Bot, you should download and use both an antivirus and antispyware tool.

  • If you are using a web browser other than Mozilla Firefox, you may need to select slightly different options to block the Malware Removal Bot websites.

  • The Registry Editor gives you access to files that are required for your operating system to load and run properly. Before deleting any registry values, you should save any important files or programs on your computer to an external device.

  • Don't include quotations marks when typing commands into the command prompt or Registry Editor.
