How to Fix Dry Feet

Dry feet is a problem for both men and women. If your feet are not getting enough moisture, they will become dry. Dry feet feel rough to the touch. They can itch, and often have flaky red patches. It is important that anyone suffering from dry feet fix them as soon as possible. Otherwise, the dry patches will begin to crack and bleed. The cracks will be at risk for developing an infection that would require the use of antibiotics. There are several items at home that can be used to treat dry feet.

  • Foot tub

Instructions

    • 1

Use a pumice stone to remove the dead skin on the bottom of your dry feet. This must be done before you work on moisturizing your feet.

    • 2

Pour the hot water into a foot tub. Add the lavender oil and the Epsom salts. Stir. Soak your feet in this tub for 15 minutes. The lavender will relax you as the salt has a chance to work on healing your dry feet.

    • 3

Use a moisturizer on the bottom of your feet several times throughout the day. Choose a moisturizer that contains either aloe or vitamin E. Both of these are well known for their ability to heal dry skin.

    • 4

Rub some hydrogenated vegetable oil over your heels just before bedtime. Immediately place a pair of white socks over your feet. This will keep the oil from wiping off of your feet as you sleep. When you wake up, your feet will be well-hydrated and smooth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure the shoes you are wearing are not too tight. Tight shoes will rub against your dry feet and make the problem worse.

  • Don't use colored socks. The dye can leak into the skin and irritate it.

  • Seek medical advice if your dry feet are not healing properly, or if you think that any cracks in your feet may have become infected.
