How to Check Immigration Case Status

U.S. immigrants can check their immigration case status easily by checking the U.S. Immigration website's case status database. You will need your immigration case receipt number and Internet access to check your immigration case status.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate your 13-digit immigration case receipt number. Your receipt number should be located at the top of your immigration application and any subsequent application notices you have received. Valid receipt numbers start with a combination of three letters: EAC, LIN, SRC, or WAC. You can contact the U.S. Immigration Office at (800) 375-5283 and provide your full name and personal information to obtain your receipt number if you do not have it.

    • 2

Visit the U.S. Immigration website and click on "Check My Case Status." You can visit the case status section of the website at egov.uscis.gov.

You can also contact the U.S. Immigration Office helpline at (800) 375-5283 to check your immigration case status if you do not have Internet access.

    • 3

Enter your 13-digit immigration application receipt number in the case status database. Do not enter any dashes (-) into the search box, and do include any other symbols like ampersands (&) or asterisks (*) in your receipt number.

    • 4

Click the "Check Status" button, and your immigration case status will display. You can determine your immigration case status by reviewing the seven circles at the top of the screen. The last colored circle indicates your immigration case's current status.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can only check the status of your own immigration case. You are legally prohibited from checking anyone else's immigration case status unless you have their prior consent to do so, or you are checking an immigration case status on their behalf
