Design a look and concept by using bright, but sophisticated paint colors, chalkboard paint and corkboards. Add space for a gallery of children's artwork. Choose artwork and trim for walls with simple, playful lines and bright colors.

Define zones with your floor plan. Create a play zone, with a colorful natural cotton rug surrounded by toy bins. Build a study area around a kid-scaled desk. Pile ottomans and soft, flexible furniture around a television and game area. Define your spaces with area rugs or carpet tiles. Add furniture that is flexible and easy to move from place to place.

Organize the room with toy bins, storage cubes and shelves. Build extra storage space into benches. Include kid friendly furniture, such as a child size table and chairs. Adding baskets and containers helps keep toys and games organized and the room clutter free.
