How to Pocket Fold a Napkin

Begin with a lightly starched cotton or linen napkin, laid out on a flat surface, such as a counter or table top.

Fold the top of the napkin horizontally so that the top edge meets the center of the napkin.

Gently turn the napkin over.

Fold the bottom unfolded side so that it meets the center line on the napkin.

Fold the right edge of the napkin vertically, making the edge meet the center of the napkin.

Fold the right side of the napkin towards the center again.

Fold the left side in so the edge meets at the edge of the right side.

Smooth out any wrinkles or give the napkin one last press with the iron and flip it over. Arrange the fork, knife and spoon in the pouch.

Tips & Warnings
For a more formal touch, you can press the napkin after each fold with a steam iron.
