How to Remove Wax From an Engineered Hardwood Floor
An engineered wood floor is all-wood floor but not all the same wood throughout. On top of a base of unfinished plywood sits a 1/16- to 1/8-inch veneer of wood such as hickory, maple, oak or bamboo. A buffed wax hardwood floor is beautiful, but over time, wax buildup starts to make it look dull. There's an easy way to remove the wax and revitalize the look of your floor. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Bruce's Clean N Strip
- Bruce's Dark N Rich or Lite N Natural liquid paste wax
- Soft cloth
- Mop with soft cloth fiber head
- Floor wax applicator mop

Vacuum the floor to suck up all sandy grit from the surface. Nothing is more destructive to a wood floor then dirt and sand grit.

Pour Bruce's Clean N Strip directly on the hardwood floor. Start at one of the farthest corners from the entrance to the room and work back toward it.

Using a soft cloth or a mop with a soft cloth head, spread Clean N Strip over the surface of the wood floor and wipe up the softened wax residue from the hardwood flooring.

Allow the floor to completely dry.

Re-coat the floor, depending on the color of the wood, with either Bruce's Light N Natural or Dark N Rich liquid paste wax.

Tips & Warnings
Ask the engineered floor manufacturer for their recommendation of wax stripper for your floor.
Make sure that the room is well ventilated when applying Clean N Strip to the floor.
