How to Make Easy Crafted Presents for a Dad

Have your child make a gift for his father for Christmas or Father's Day. Allow the child to do as much of the gift on her own as possible. A snow globe, desk organizer or paperweight all make great homemade gifts. Each gift will have its own special touch to it. For multiple children, have each one make their own gift. The child will be excited to not only make the gift, but to give it.

Things You'll Need

• Clean, empty baby food jar and lid
• Small picture
• Packing tape
• Hot glue gun
• Water
• Glitter
• Empty, clean snack cylinders of different sizes
• Colored paper
• Scissors
• Buttons
• White glue
• Sheet of cardboard
• Flat rock
• Acrylic paint
• Paintbrushes
• Felt

Instructions

Snow Globe

1. Use the packing tape to tape a small picture to the outside of the baby food jar. The picture needs to face inward.

2. Pour about a tablespoon of glitter into the jar.

3. Fill with water.

4. Line inside lip of the lid with hot glue. Screw the lid on tightly. Add more glue to the outside of the lid. Let dry.

Desk Organizer

1. Spread white glue all over a snack canister.

2. Wrap paper around the canister. Trim off the excess.

3. Glue buttons and bits of paper onto the cylinders to decorate. Repeat with two or three cylinders.

4. Spread white glue over a piece of cardboard. The cardboard needs to be large enough to hold all the canisters.

5. Put paper over the cardboard. Wrap the paper edges underneath the cardboard and glue. Glue on the canisters with a hot glue gun.

Paperweight

1. Wash and dry a flat rock.

2. Use acrylic paint to paint the rock. Paint the top and sides. Let dry.

3. Cut a piece of felt the size of the rock. Hot glue it onto the bottom of the rock. The felt prevents scratches.
