How to Change a File From BMP to JPEG
Converting a bitmap image, or BMP, to JPEG format is a great idea if you want to save disk space. Bitmaps do not support file compression, so bitmap images tend to be very large. JPEG images tend to be somewhat "lossy," which means they may lose a tiny bit of image quality in the process of being compressed into such small files, but the difference generally is not visible. Changing BMPs to JPEGs is very easy, and can be done quickly with free online tools.

Tips & Warnings
There are many free file conversion websites that work much like Zamzar. Some of these are Go2Convert, Cool Utils and Picture Resize (see Resources). All are simple to use, though not all offer batch conversion (changing multiple files at one time). Use whichever application you like best.
