How to Make a Balloon Popping Wand

Make a dowel rod into a wand to pop balloons. Balloons may be leftover from a party or event. It's easier to dispose of popped balloons than of ones filled with air. The pointed end of the stick pokes a hole in the balloon, causing it to pop. A loud noise usually accompanies the pop. The more air there is in a balloon, the thinner the surface is and the easier it is to pop. The latex surface of the balloon stretches as it fills, making it easier to break.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the dowel rod securely in one hand.

    • 2

Use the other hand to hold a knife. Cut one tip of the rod into a point.

    • 3

Gently sand down the rough areas where you cut the rod.

    • 4

Wrap electrical tape around the other end to make a handle. The electrical tape makes for a thicker grip.

    • 5

Touch the tip of the rod to a balloon to pop.
