How to Change BMP to JPEG
There are several types of image types including BMP, JPEG, GIF and PNG. A bitmap image (BMP) is a file type that is used for pictures and desktop images. However, these images are not useful for web pages. If you want to distribute your image online, you need to convert it to a more compatible type. A JPEG image is compatible with web browsers, and they can be integrated into your website. Windows comes with a free graphics program, Microsoft Paint, which can be used to convert any BMP image to a JPEG.

Click the Windows Start button and select "All Programs." In the list of items, select "Accessories" and then click the "Paint" icon.

Click "File" and then "Open." Navigate to the location of the BMP file you want to convert and select "Open." This loads the BMP file into Paint.

Click the "File" menu option again and select "Save As." In the drop down box that lists the file types, select "JPEG."

Select a location to save the converted file and click the "Save" button. Microsoft Paint converts the BMP file and saves it with the .jpeg extension.
