How to Convert GIF or BMP to JPEG

BMP (Bitmap) and GIF are image formats. Some websites and devices do not support files in these format. JPEG on the other hand is a popular image compression format many applications and devices use. It compresses images in full color or gray-scale and works well on photographs and artwork. Convert BMP or GIF files to JPEG using a simple photo-editing tool.

Instructions

1. Click the Windows "Start" menu and click "All Programs." Scroll up and select "Accessories." Click "Paint" to launch the built-in image editing tool.

2. Click "File" and click "Open." Locate your BMP or GIF image file from the location you have it on your computer and click "Open" to launch it.

3. Click the "File" menu and again and click "Save As" to launch the file saving utility.

4. Select the target folder to save your file to and select "JPEG" in the "Save As Type" window. This option converts your GIF or BMP file to JPEG. Type a name for the image and click "Save" to convert to JPEG without changing the original file.
