How to Take a Picture of Myself With a Mac Computer

When Apple introduced Photo Booth software, it became easy to take pictures of yourself with a Mac. As with most Mac software, Photo Booth is intuitive and easy to use. Once you have snapped a photo of yourself, you can use the photo as a desktop picture, email it to friends or upload it to a website. Photo Booth also allows you to change your photo and add some pizazz to it.

      Click on "Hard Drive," the "Applications" folder and then "Photo Booth."

      When Photo Booth opens, you will see yourself on the monitor. Position yourself as desired for the photo.

      Click the red camera icon in the center of the screen when you are ready. The computer will give a count down of three warning beeps, the flash will go off and your picture is taken.

Tips & Warnings

  • Click the camera icon as many times as you like to retake your photo. Each shot will appear in the scrolling area for you to save to iPhoto or elsewhere.

  • Under the View menu, you can choose "Show effects" before taking your photo to alter the look of the photo.
