How to Play Bejeweled Blitz

Bejeweled Blitz is a one-minute version of the game Bejeweled designed for Facebook. In Bejeweled Blitz, you must clear levels by removing jewels. Jewels are removed when you make a row of three or more of the same jewel. Jewels can only be moved one space and can only be moved to a space that creates a row of three or more. You can also earn awards that are posted to your Facebook page for reaching high scores.

Instructions

1. Open the Bejeweled Blitz Facebook page in your web browser (see Resources 1). Log in to your Facebook account by entering your email address and password at the top of the page. If you do not have a Facebook account, you may create one by clicking on the green "Sign Up" button on the top left-hand side of the page and entering your personal information.

2. Click on the blue "Go to Application" button under the Bejeweled Blitz icon on the left-hand side of the page. Click on the "Allow" button on the redirect page to access the application.

3. Click the "Play" icon after the application finishes loading. A new game will start.

4. Click on a jewel to select it, and click on an adjacent spot to move it to. Jewels can only be moved to a spot that will create a row of at least 3 of the same jewels. Once you form a row of jewels, the jewels will be removed from the screen. Remove as many jewels as possible within one minute.

5. Create rows quickly to earn a speed bonus that will give you extra points for each additional match you make. To turn on the speed bonus, you must make three rows within two seconds. Continue making matches quickly to grow the amount of your speed bonus. The more matches you have under your speed bonus, the higher your bonus will be. Also, higher speed bonuses give you for more time between matches that are counted toward your speed bonus.

6. Create flame gems by making a row of four jewels, and put the flame gem into a row to use it. The flame gem will get rid of all adjacent jewels while activating any nearby flame gems.

7. Create a star gem by creating a "T" or "L" shape with the same type of jewels. The star gem will remove one row and column of jewels from your screen.

8. Create a hypercube by matching five jewels in one row. Use the hypercube by moving it to an adjacent spot. The hypercube will turn all of the nearby jewels into the same color as the jewel you swapped it with. Swap one hypercube with another hypercube to wipe out the jewels from the entire board. You will receive points for all the jewels that are removed.

9. Create a multiplier gem by removing a large amount of gems at once with one of the power gems. Place the multiplier gem in a row of gems to activate it. Your points will be multiplied by the factor on the gem for the remainder of the game.
