How to Clean a Hand Scraped Wood Floor

You can find hand scraped wood floors in many places from homes, to boutiques, to taverns and bars. The hand scraped texture of the flooring creates a timeless, antique look that adds a sophisticated touch to the appearance of any room. Although the worn look of the floor creates an aged appearance, it is still important to clean the floors properly to maintain the flooring and allow for years of use without deteriorating the quality of the hand scraped floors.

Things You'll Need

• Dust mop
• Water
• Apple cider vinegar
• Bucket
• Cleaning rag

Instructions

1. Wipe over the floors with a dust mop regularly to collect pebbles, food and other particles that can scratch the flooring.

2. Pour one gallon of warm water into a bucket, followed by 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar. The vinegar will clean and disinfect without damaging the quality or texture of the wood floor.

3. Dip a cleaning rag in the solution, twist out excess water and wipe over the floors by hand. Cleaning by hand, instead of using a mop, will allow you to wipe in the scrapes of the hardwood floor where a mop may not reach on its own.

4. Wipe over the floors once more with a dry, clean rag to collect any remaining moisture.
