How to Use Baking Cups in Place of Parchment Paper

Once you begin using parchment paper in the kitchen, you may find it difficult to bake without it since parchment paper prevents baked goods such as cookies, cakes, breads and scones from sticking to the baking sheet or pan. It can be frustrating if you run out of parchment paper in the middle of a baking project, but with a little creativity, you can use paper baking cups in place of parchment paper. Instructions

    • 1

Place the paper baking cups onto a flat counter and roll them out flat with the rolling pin so that the entire baking cup becomes one flat circle.

    • 2

Line the flattened baking cups into the bottom of a bread pan or a cake pan to cover the entire bottom of the pan. If you are lining a baking sheet, cover the entire surface area of the baking sheet with flattened baking cups.

    • 3

Pour cake batter into the cake pan over the flattened baking cups; make sure that the baking cups do not shift as you pour the cake batter. If you are making bread, place the dough into a bread pan lined with flattened baking cups. Similarly, place cookie or scone dough onto a baking sheet lined with flattened baking cups.

    • 4

Bake the item in the oven according to the recipe. Remove the item from the oven and cool it slightly before removing it from the baking pan.

    • 5

Turn the baked item out of the baking pan. The flattened baking cups will make removing the baked item from the pan easy because it will not stick.

    • 6

      Discard the flattened baking cups.
