How to Make a Jewelry Display Board

If you love jewelry but seem to drop your items in a drawer or jewelry box, they can become a tangled mess. Creating a jewelry board display is a way to keep your necklaces from tangling while making it easy to find that perfect jewelry piece at a glance. If you are selling your jewelry, making your own display board will show it off without people having to look through little plastic bags. You can make your display board any size and any color.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the cork board to the dimensions you want. If you are using it to display your jewelry to sell, make sure you cut it in a size that is easy to handle and will fit in your car.

    • 2

Cut your batting to fit over the top of your cork board. Staple the batting in place.

    • 3

Measure and cut the material. It should fit over the front and sides with an extra inch or more left over on all four sides. Fold the sides of the material over and staple to the back of your board.

    • 4

Measure and cut the wood trim to fit each side of your display board. Angle each corner for a professional look. Nail the boards into place.

    • 5

Attach eye hooks on each side of the frame if you want to hang it on the wall. Measure enough wire so you can hang the display board. Put one end of wire through an eye hook and twist the end of the wire to make it secure. Do the same with the other end of wire and eye hook. If using the board to display at craft fairs, you will need a base to hold up the display board. An easy solution is to attach your display board to two metal shelf brackets. Use a length of ribbon from one end to the other to display your earrings. To display jewelry pins, you can fasten them right to the material and batting.

    • 6

Screw cup hooks along the top, leaving two about 2 inches between each hook. You can also use nails or pins to hold the necklaces in place.

    • 7

Hang a necklace on the cup hook. Where the necklace ends, add an inch and place your next cup hook, nail or pin.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a length of ribbon from one end to the other to display your earrings. To display jewelry pins, you can fasten them right to the material and batting.

  • Sand, stain or paint the wood trim if you want. Do so before nailing it onto the display board.

  • For a small version of a display board, use picture frames. Just remove the glass.

  • Instead of cork board, you can use cardboard or wood.
