How to Make Large Beads Out of Seed Beads
You can create a myriad of beaded patterns and projects with seed beads, the smallest glass beads available for beadwork, but sometimes you may find them too small for your design. You can make large beads out of seed beads with the help of a plastic or wooden base bead that matches the colors of the seed beads in your project. This simple technique of covering a base bead with seed beads has a finished look of a seed bead ball.
Instructions

1
Thread your beading needle with 1 yard of waxed beading thread. Insert the needle through the base bead and tie the thread ends together tightly with a double overhand knot.
-
2
Insert the needle through the hole in the base bead so that it exits from the top.
-
-
3
Thread eight to 12 seed beads. The number will vary based on the size of your base bead and on the size of the seed beads you selected.
-
4
Insert your needle through the base bead again, from the bottom to the top. The seed beads will be shaped around the base bead. Go through the first seed bead in the first strand.
-
5
Add two fewer seed beads than you did in the first strand. Go through the last seed bead in the previous strand, then through the base bead from the bottom to the top.
-
6
Repeat Step 5 seven or eight more times until your base bead is covered with seed beads.
-
7
Tie a knot in the thread and weave the tail into the seed beads.

Tips & Warnings
Hold your finger and thumb over the holes in the base bead as you work to keep the seed beads from sliding into the openings.
