How to Play Free Play in Sims Castaway for the PC
The Sims Castaway Stories are one of three games in Sims Life Stories. These Sims games are stand-alone games that are a bit different from the usual Sims games. All three offer directed adventures featuring one character and a storyline that must be followed with goals to reach throughout the story. The games also offer free play, either after the directed story or right from the start when you begin the game.

Load Sims Castaway Stories into your computer. These Life Stories games are different in that they are designed to be played on a laptop computer as well as on a desktop. Use whichever you prefer. Loading the game will take three to 10 minutes, depending on your hard drive.

Choose one of the directed adventure games to play. You may play as either David or Jessica. Each story will be a little bit different but you will ultimately have the same goal of a happy relationship with someone else on the island.

Play the directed game all the way through to the end. Either of these games should take 10 to 12 hours to complete. Playing either of the games will unlock special items and rewards that would otherwise be unavailable when you get to free play. Either game will unlock the exact same items, so you don't need to play both games.

Finish the game with either David or Jessica. At this point, you can simply continue playing the game with everything that you have collected, won, or acquired, keeping all of your friends and relationships. This free play with your character can go on as long as you like.

Create a new character for classic Sims free play. After unlocking all of the extra items by winning the directed game, go to the main menu and choose free play. As in other Sims games, you may now create a character by choosing looks and personality. Pick property and build a home or furnish one already started. Build your life from the beginning. You can find animal and human friends just like in directed play, but all of your relationships will have to start over.
