How to Delete Part of an MP3 File

MP3 files are among the most common audio files for PC, Mac and Internet users. Free software like QuickTime Player allows users to delete or edit parts of video and audio files using simple, automatic presets. iTunes for PC or Mac also has the ability to edit music; however, QuickTime Player allows for easier visual interfacing and saving/exporting options.

      Download and install QuickTime Player. Agree to the terms of use and open QuickTime.

      Click on "File" and select "Open File..." at the top of your QuickTime toolbar. Locate your MP3 in the Finder window and click "Open." Your MP3 will appear in its own window.

      Set the "in" point for the MP3 section you want to save by setting your cursor at the appropriate "in" mark and pressing "i" on your keyboard. Repeat this procedure for your "out" point.

      Delete the rest of the file outside your "in" and "out" marks by clicking "Edit" and selecting "Trim to Selection." You will be left with only your sectioned of file.

      Click "File" and "Save" to name your new file and select your output location. Click "Save."
