How to Write a Cover Letter for an Autobiography Report
An autobiography report is an essay on a book a person has written about his own life. These reports are assigned as a way to encourage independent research and build on critical assessments of sources. They also give you a chance to decide what information seems most relevant to the study. Instructors sometimes will assign a cover letter as a part of an autobiography report.

Follow standard cover letter format of left alignment, using an inside address and single space, block-paragraph formatting. A cover letter should be easy to read. If you are unsure about what the correct format looks like, consult your English Composition handbook for guidelines.

Use a clear, active writing voice. The communication must be concise and proceed logically. Your instructor does not have time to decipher what you are trying to say; be clear in order to avoid a congested cover letter.

Talk about the research process, including any difficulties or stumbling blocks you might have encountered along the way. Your teacher will want to know what problems you faced and how you solved them. Tell the instructor if you have certain problems unresolved; her response will be an important part of the feedback when the essay is handed back to you.

Ask questions about parts of the subject that you don't have answers to. Sometimes, the deeper someone gets into research, the more provocative the questions become. This will demonstrate your engagement with the subject matter and demonstrate a growing appreciation of the larger critical context.
