Instructions

    • 1

Make sure that each bottle is corked tightly. You may want to use wire cork cages to keep all the corks tight. If you have a large collection, make sure to use the cork cages for sparkling wines if for nothing else.

    • 2

Wrap each bottle in newspaper or bubble wrap. Tape around if necessary to keep the paper or bubble wrap secure.

    • 3

Place the bottles in a wine box with cardboard separators. Make sure there is ample padding on the bottom, and fill the tops with extra paper or foam peanuts. Use extra tape on the top and bottom of the box to ensure that nothing comes out in transit.

    • 4

Mark all boxes as fragile so that movers are careful with them. Also mark each box with arrows so the bottles are kept right-side up.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want to spend some extra money you can buy boxes with padding specifically designed for wine bottles. Prices range from about one dollar per bottle if you use a two-pack corrugated cardboard box to 10 dollars per bottle for molded foam boxes.
