Instructions

    • 1

Gather all of your grapes together so they can all be processed at once.

    • 2

Put grapes in a colander or strainer, one bunch or three cups at a time, and put the strainer in a sink.

    • 3

Run cold water over the grapes with a gentle stream. If you have a spray nozzle on your faucet, use it, as it does a more thorough job of covering all the grapes. As the water is running over the grapes, gently remove them from the stem. Discard the stems.

    • 4

Place washed and stemmed grapes into another strainer to drain. Continue the rinsing process until you have cleaned and stemmed all of the grapes.

    • 5

Place all of the grapes in a large bowl, a handful at a time, and discard any rotten, hard or green grapes. This is your final sorting before making juice.

Tips & Warnings

  • It can take approximately 10 lbs of grapes to yield one gallon of homemade grape juice.

  • Grapes are heavily sprayed with fertilizer and pesticides, so it is imperative that you take the time to clean them well to avoid illness.
