How to Glue Ceramic Baking Dishes

Ceramic baking dishes are ideal for any baker. They are very useful pieces of bakeware to have in the kitchen for cakes, pies and many other confections. But all good things must come to an end. Or do they? Ceramic dishes that have fallen and broken can be fixed quickly and easily. All you need to do is make a quick trip to a hobby store for the necessary materials.

Things You'll Need

• Elmer's Craft Bond Ceramic & Glass Cement
• Sandpaper
• Paper towel
• Masking tape

Instructions

1. Smooth down the broken edges with sandpaper. It just needs to be done lightly enough to get rid of loose debris and tiny chips.

2. Apply the Elmer's bond to the broken ends and push the broken pieces of ceramic firmly together. Hold for 30 seconds to one minute

3. Clean off all excess glue from hands and fingers with a dry paper towel.

4. Use the masking tape to create a clamp on the glued pieces.

5. Let sit for three hours or more.

Tips & Warnings

• Elmer's is dishwasher safe. You may still see hairline fractures, but the baking dish will be repaired and usable. This procedure cannot be performed on broken dishes with small shards.

• Exercise caution when dealing with broken cookware or bakeware. Failure to do so may result in injury.
