Pour minerals spirits directly onto the wood floor. Work in a 2-foot-by-2-foot area at a time, working methodically over the whole wood flooring surface. Do not allow the mineral spirits to sit on the floor for more than two to three minutes before working with it.

Fold a clean cotton cloth and work the mineral spirits into the wood flooring surface in a circular motion. Refold the cloth to a clean surface frequently to prevent paste wax from being reapplied to the wood flooring surface.
