How to Make a Feather Hair Comb
Feathers have long been used to add pizazz to women's accessories. Beginning in the 1920s and for three decades beyond, feathers were a common addition on lady's hats. Now, feather accessories are still used to add instant flair to a women's outfit, but they are often used in a more understated way. A feather hair clip or comb can be purchased at most stores, but you can make one for a fraction of the cost at home in just a few minutes. Does this Spark an idea?

Determine how you would like your comb to look before you begin working on the comb. Lay out all the pieces so they are within reach as you work.

Cut the feather pieces down to size, if necessary.

Squeeze a small strip of glue along the top of a plain hair comb in the desired size.

Lay the first feather onto the comb and hold it in place for a few seconds. Squeeze another thin layer of glue onto the comb and place a second feather onto the comb so it covers the quill portion of the first feather. Repeat in this manner until the entire comb has been covered.

Dot a small amount of glue onto a decorative button or other similarly sized item, such as a piece of costume jewelry, and press on top of the last quill to conceal.

Allow the comb to dry for at least 2 hours before using.
