Good retail salespeople know how to up-sell and cross-sell products to increase the sales per transaction. They know how to establish rapport quickly and build lasting consumer relationships so that customers will frequent their shops. Retail sales people are image representatives of the stores that they work for. The best retail sales people are usually the ones that also have extraordinary customer service capabilities.

Describe your core competencies as they would benefit the retail store where you want to work. Traits such as good customer services skills, excellent sales skills, and a personable personality are necessary in retail sales.
