Make your rough opening. Allow 1/2 inch on both sides and top. Make sure your header is heavy enough to support the weight above it. Make sure the seal plate is level. In an existing home you may have to cut full length shims to make seal level.

When you have the opening plumb and level dry fit the door. If the door fits properly remove and put two beads of caulking across entire seal and up the edge of the jambs two inches. Install the door,level, shim and nail the flange or brickmold. If your door requires jamb screws shim and install them.

To adjust the operating panel to close correctly there is to screw adjustments at the base of panel. Adjust so door hits evenly across the stop.

Put the handle on and locking lever. This should be done to instructions on handle packaging. Use minimal expanding foam to seal inside between jamb and door frame. Insulate the rest with fiberglass. Apply desired trim.

On the exterior flash with tape. After siding, caulk to seal from the elements.
