How to Uninstall MSN Messenger from Vista

MSN Messenger, also known as Windows Live Messenger, is a client that allows two or more people to engage in an instant messaging chat conversation. MSN Messenger was created by Microsoft in 1999 to work with all Windows operating systems. Depending on where you downloaded your version of MSN Messenger, your program may have an uninstall file that can uninstall itself. If there is none, you can uninstall this program through the Vista Control Panel.

      Uninstall the program with the uninstall file. In Windows Vista, click "Start" to open your windows menu. Click "Programs" and scroll through your list of programs until you find the "MSN Messenger," or "Windows Live Messenger" folder. Hover your mouse over the folder and look for the "Uninstall" option. If there is not one, skip this step. If there is, click this option and follow the on-screen instructions to remove MSN Messenger from your computer.

      Open your Windows Vista Control Panel. Click "Start" to open the Windows menu. Located on the left-hand side of the menu, you will see "Control Panel." Click it.

      Remove MSN Messenger from the Control Panel. In the Control Panel, double-click the option that says "Programs and Features." If your Control Panel's view is set to "Home" instead of "Classic" view, click "Programs" and then "Uninstall a Program." The window that appears will have a list of all the programs you have downloaded. Scroll through the list and click on "MSN Messenger." Only click once to highlight the item. At the top of the list, click the icon that says "Uninstall." Follow the on-screen instructions to completely remove MSN Messenger from your computer.
