How to Make Ice Cream Mix From Scratch

Homemade ice cream is a favorite dessert for family picnics and barbeques. In the old time ice cream maker, which was invented in the mid-1800's, the ice cream mixture is poured into the metal canister, which sits in a bed of ice and is hand cranked. Rock salt is added to the ice, which assists in the freezing process. Although hand crank ice cream makers still exist, some models are now electric, and don't require hand cranking. Some newer models don't use ice or rock salt. There are many different recipes to make ice cream mix from scratch. Does this Spark an idea?
