How to Clean a Stove-Top Popcorn Maker

Popcorn without the microwave might mean using a stove-top popcorn maker. These pots have a lid with a crank which stirs the popcorn kernels cooking inside. Making popcorn with oil or adding salt and sugar to the mix as you pop can leave a greasy residue on the inside of the popcorn maker. Use this method after popping your popcorn to clean it..       Let the popcorn maker cool completely after use before cleaning it.

      Set the maker onto a flat surface. Holding the handle with one hand, place the thumb and first finger on one of the clamps on top of the lid. Squeeze your thumb and finger together while lifting upward. Do the same to remove the second clamp to unlock the lid.

      Pull the lid off of the base and wash the lid by hand with warm, soapy water.

      Wash the base (pot) by hand in warm water with soap or place in the dishwasher.

      Allow all parts to air dry completely before storing.
