How to Rent a Truck to Haul Cement

Renting a truck to haul cement depends on the amount of cement to be transported and the license status of the driver. Renting large moving trucks can be done with a standard driving license; however, larger trucks may require a trucking operating license. Check with the rental agency about requirements. Some rental agencies also offer cement-related equipment for rental as well.

Instructions

  1. Truck Rental

    • 1

Search for a list of truck rental companies in your area. Call to learn about rates (factors to consider include daily rate, mileage costs and gas allowance), reservations, availability, insurance and requirements.

    • 2

After comparing the companies terms and availability, book the truck rental for the date(s) required. Ask about the documentation required for the rental both in advance or on the day of the rental; this will include presenting a driver's license and making a deposit.

    • 3

Hold onto all paperwork during the rental period and return it to the rental facility upon completion. Be sure to refuel the truck if required.

Tips & Warnings

  • Estimate the number of miles you anticipate driving the truck during the rental. Some rental agencies permit in-town round-trip rentals, while others have rates that vary with one-way rentals. Make note of the hours of operation and overage charges if you anticipate you will be renting the truck for a time longer than originally estimated.

  • Obey all posted traffic signs regarding truck clearance and driving permissions on streets and highways.
