The preferred method for filling out your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is online. Not only does it save paper, it's faster. If you fill out your FAFSA online, you'll generally receive a response the next business day.

Nevertheless, there are circumstances where you may prefer to obtain a paper application. The processing time for paper applications is a bit longer (about three weeks). There are several ways to obtain a paper FAFSA application.

      Wait to speak with a representative. Request a FAFSA application packet.

      Provide your mailing address. Your application packet (including instructions and a return envelope) will be mailed to you within two weeks.
