How to Remove an Edit Tag on an MP3 Context Menu

MP3 files downloaded online are notorious for having incorrect tags. Songs commonly have misspelled names or incorrect artists, and loading an MP3 tag editor to fix a single song or album is often too time-consuming to bother with. Thankfully, all recent versions of Windows allow you to remove and edit the tags of an MP3 file directly from the context menu. Use the context menu to correct the tags of an MP3 file that was tagged incorrectly when it was created.

Instructions

    • 1

Right click on an MP3 file, and click "Properties."

    • 2

Click the "Details" tab in Windows Vista and 7, or the "Summary" tab, then the "Advanced" button in Windows XP.

    • 3

Click in the "Value" column next to the tag that you would like to remove or edit. If you are running Windows Vista or 7, the text area changes to "Add text" when you hover your mouse over it. Type a new value to edit the tag, or remove the current value with the "Backspace" key to delete it.

    • 4

Click "OK" to save the changed tags.
