Insert the key into the ignition, and turn the key to the "On" position. Place the transmission lever in "Neutral." Push the automobile forward to gain momentum. Continue pushing until the automobile speed reaches approximately 10 mph.

    • 2

Disengage the clutch and shift the vehicle into second gear. Quickly engage the clutch, and when the engine "turns over," gently press the accelerator pedal.

    • 3

Disengage the clutch once the engine has started. Place the transmission level into "Neutral" and allow the engine to run for about one minute before driving.

Tips & Warnings

  • The engine may fail to start the first time; if multiple attempts are necessary, it is best to push-start a vehicle in a flat area.

  • This procedure will work on a vehicle with a manual transmission only. Vehicles with automatic or CVT transmissions cannot be push-started.
