Blending Colors
-
1
Position the stencil on the surface you will be stenciling. Once you have the stencil in the desired position, use masking tape to secure it to the surface so it will not move.
-
2
Place quarter-sized amounts of the paint colors you will be using onto the paint palette.
-
-
3
Load a small amount of one stencil paint color onto your stenciling brush. Begin applying this color at one end of the stenciling area. Apply the stenciling paint on approximately one-third of the stenciling area by pouncing the stenciling brush lightly.
-
4
Load a small amount of another stencil paint color onto another stenciling brush. Begin applying this color at the other end of the same stenciling area and paint this color approximately one-third of the way toward the first color of paint.
-
5
Remove as much of the paint as possible from the first stenciling brush you were using. Use this brush to dab at the first color of paint you already applied and pull it toward the second color of paint. You will be blending the first and second paint colors in the center portion of the stenciling area. As you blend, pounce the stenciling brush onto each color to bring more of this color into the center area.

Tips & Warnings
Pouncing the paintbrush means to dab the paintbrush straight down onto the stenciling area. To fill in an entire stenciling area by pouncing, you must pounce the paintbrush repeatedly over the surface until you have filled in the area to your liking.
