A pot roast by any other name is still a pot roast.
The best, or one of the best is the beef chuck roast, if cooked long and slow to enhance flavors. A roast so tender you can cut it with a fork.
Chuck roast are often on sale at local markets making this a good buy.
Chuck roast taste great served with a side dish of rice, or mashed potatoes and gravy, or as open faced sandwich over toasted French bread.
Freeze left over roast and gravy in small freezer containers or bags and use later for a quick fix meal.

    Things You'll Need

    • 3 Pound Beef Chuck Roast
    • 1 can of Mushroom soup
    • Crock Pot or Oven proof deep casserole dish
      • 1
        Pot Roast in Deep Oven Proof Baking Pan

        Purchase beef chuck pot roast
        Rinse meat on both sides
        Place in bottom of crock pot, or in deep oven proof casserole dish
        Do not add salt
        If baked in oven, seal top of pan with tin foil after adding ingredients

        Mashed Potatoes, remember to top with gravy!

        Add 1 can of Cream of Mushroom soup
        Do not use fat free soup, it dilutes flavor
        Add 1 can of water
        Set crock pot to cook on high

        Rice

        Set oven to 325 degrees if using a oven proof casserole dish
        Place a drip pan underneath casserole dish to prevent any oven spills
        When meat is tender and falls apart to the touch the chuck roast is ready to serve.
        Serve with chuck pot roast gravy over rice, potatoes or open face sandwich.
