Look at the top of your computer case for the labels that are attached to the case. Most Compaq desktop computers will have several labels on the top, including labels showing the activation key for Windows and a label showing the service code number. On laptops the serial number label will be on the bottom of the unit.

Check your computer's setup information if there is no serial number label visible on the computer case. Turn on the computer and look for a setup message. You will be prompted to press a function key to enter the Setup program, probably the F1 or the F10 key.

Press the key indicated to enter Setup mode and look at the information on the screen to find the serial number.

Log on to your PC, then press the "Ctrl," "Alt," and "S" keys simultaneously if neither of the other two methods work. This will pop up a window containing both your model number and your serial number.
