How to Find a WEP Number in NETGEAR

The Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) number, also known as the primary WEP key, is an security code which allows only computers with the corresponding key to access the router and the local network. Finding the WEP number on a Netgear router is accomplished with only a few clicks.

      Determine the IP address of the Netgear administrative interface, along with the administrator's login credentials. Most Netgear routers use 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. Consult the router's manual for the IP address, as well as the user ID and password for the administrative interface.

      Open a web browser and enter the IP address for the Netgear router.

      Log on to the administrative interface with the user ID and password.

      Click "Wireless Settings" from the left navigation menu.

      Scroll down to the section labeled "Security Encryption (WEP) Key".

      Locate the selected key indicated by the active radio button. Write down the number corresponding to this key. This number is the primary WEP key for the network. This number must be used by computers accessing the local Netgear network.
