In a bowl, mix 1/4 cup salt, 1/4 cup borax and 1/4 cup undiluted white vinegar. Mix together to form a paste. Borax and vinegar both help to remove stains and neutralize odors. The vinegar also helps to retain the colors of the carpet through the cleaning process.

Apply the paste to the stain.

Use a cleaning brush to rub the paste into the rug fibers.

Allow the solution to dry. Wait at least 30 minutes.
