How to Clean Salt Plates

Different than the more common granulated table salt, solid pink Himalayan salt blocks cut into plates create unique cooking and serving dishes. Salt plates flavor your food as your cook, since you literally cook your food on top of your seasoning: salt. As with any serving dish, you must clean it before its next use. Water will wash away a layer from the surface of your salt plates, but this also cleans off any residue attached to the salt. Even with a bit of salt washing off with each cleaning, your salt plates can still last for years, and the salt will prevent germs from growing on your plates, even though you never clean them with soap.
