        You will have to til the soil where you want to plant the corn. Choose a spot that will allow at least 8 hours of sunlight a day. Til the soil and cultiate it a couple of times to get rid of the weeds. You can also spray herbicides if you desire. Check soils PH level you will want to make the PH level between 6 and 6.5.

        When planting your corn plant in short rows east and west. This allows sunlight on all plants and the short rows offer better polination. Plant in rows 24 inches apart or as wide as your tiller if you have one.
        Cover seeds so they are about one inch under the soil. fertilize when planting.

        Sweet corn requires at least one inch of water a week, a little more after it tassles. If there is no rain in forecast you must water it your self. Fertilize monthly, If you want organic corn you can get manure to use for fertilizer. Sweet corn takes about 75 to 80 days to mature. Good luck and keep the weeds out of your corn.
