Sometimes you want to take a picture of something on your computer screen that you're working on. Perhaps you're having a technical problem and want to provide an actual image of it to the IT support staff. You can even capture an image of online shopping receipts or confirmation codes. It's simple to take a screen shot picture of anything on your computer screen when you use a Mac.

Instructions

      Have the window, icon or whatever you want a screen shot image of in front of you on your computer screen.

      Hold down the "Command," "Shift" and "4" number key at the same time.

      Notice that your mouse pointer has changed to a crosshair.

      Move the crosshair pointer to a corner of the image you would like to save in your screen shot.

      Hold down the mouse button or keypad click and then drag the lasso around the area you want to include in your screen shot picture.

      Let go of the mouse or keypad, and the Mac automatically saves your selected image onto your Mac desktop.
