How to Convert a WMA Sound File to an MP3

Most portable audio devices play both WMA and MP3 files.

WMA (Windows Media Audio) and MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3), common computer audio files, will both play on almost any media player or MP3 player. You can convert either format to other audio formats by using any number of free audio conversion programs. The quality loss between a file converted to MP3 from WMA is minimal.

Instructions

1. Download the program Switch Sound File Converter. Double-click the downloaded installer file, and follow the instructions to complete the installation. Run the program.

2. Drag and drop the WMA file into the center of the program. Set the conversion format to MP3.

3. Click the drop-down box next to "Output Folder." Select where you want converted files to be placed.

4. Click the Convert button.
